  • Where can I find these?

In need of new parts and don't know where to look. I have done my research but still can't seem to find certain quality made/to spec parts. 1979 XS1100 Special. PLEASE provide links

    WHAT I NEED

Fork Seals/Dust Caps/Whatever comes with a fork rebuild kid. I've read that the 79' special uses 27mm/48mm/10.5mm and can't find them ANYWHERE. Are these measurements even correct?

Wheel Bearings. Not in a rush for these, but i'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change these out. Who know's if they've ever even been changed.

Air/Fuel T's for carburetors. The rubber that seals the t's into the carbs is pretty worn and isn't forming much of a seal.

Auto Cam Chain Tensioner. I want to replace the original but am unsure of where to find these, or how to make sure a new one would properly fit.

New Headlight. Want to toss in a new headlight because the one currently in does not throw out too much light. What should I look for when it comes to these?

Also, can someone add the fuse box link that replaces the old buss fuses?

Thank you for all the help.

    Special fork seals are 37X48X10.5
Send topcatgr58 a pm, he has the fuse boxes.
You will want to check eBay for a can chain tensioner, look for an 80s venture or vmax.

For the headlight I had great luck with a Cibie lens and a new bulb. All the rest of the housing, etc. should be fine. Cibie are not cheap, but I swear it made a big difference. Some use LED bulbs with those, but I've not tried that, just the best quality H4 bulb you can find will be an improvement.

I just got what is probably a spare set of oil seals for an 80 special. If it fits your forks and it is in fact a spare set, I'll sell em to you. Pull your dust boot and snap ring off yours, then read the numbers on your oil seal to confirm the size.

Dust boots were hard to find for my bike... I ended up paying a premium for NOS parts off eBay. You might want to consider fork boots instead off factory dust boots. You could probably find some straight out of China for a few bucks.

A guy in town found wheel bearings for me, if you can't find them anywhere else (like partshark.com) I could ask if he can get another set for you.

          Hey Civil,

As for the T fittings, folks have posted about removing the OLD rubber from the T's,and then used Neoprene O-Rings, several as replacements. YMMV

The Special uses a Standard 7"(H6024) round headlight lens/reflector. I found that I could get pairs of CLEAR 7" round reflector housings for Cars on ebay for like $25.00 a pair. Just get the plain CLEAR glass lens type, not the pseudo HID projector lens in the center, it's useless. You can also find compete LED H6024 type headlight housings as well, but they will be a bit more $$ YMMV.

Then I was able to put a high output H-4 LED Hi/Lo bulb in it. Most folks have found the OEM or a single headlight lacking for enough light to truly illuminate the road. WIth LED headlight, you can afford electrically to add a pair of LED spots as well and still have less Amp draw than ONE Halogen 55W bulb!

Front bearing sets are easy/cheap to find on ebay, as well as the Right rear bearing. It's the LEFT REAR that's a little bit harder to find. It's an NA5904, NOT an NKIA5904, Needle bearing only, NO mixed ball bearings/needle combo, size 20x37x23 .

Thank you guys for all the help.

For the fork seals, I just ordered the proper size from my friend who works at a Yamaha dealer. That helped a ton. Will be replacing the headlight bulb and wheel bearings soon.

For the fuel/air t’s, I was able to rob BRAND NEW fuel ones from another set of carbs I had lying around. But unfortunately, the air t’s From that set we’re completely rotten out. My old ones will have to do for now..

I actually do like the look of the aftermarket accordion fork boots, so I might toss those on to replace the dust caps.

As for the ACCT, what exact year venture am I looking for? Is it automatic? Or just another manual one that fits the xs11?

This is what I ordered from ebay. I installed one and it fit great but your cap bolts need to be a little shorter or you will strip the holes!

Yeppers, they are bottom holes. Fortunately, locally here, got the Venture tensioner AND its associated allen bolts. When Scott(3phase) was here a few yrs. back, we went and got the other tensioner off same Venture and installed it on his Columbo at my place while he was staying over here.
