  • Xjr1300 carb swap?

Is anyone running different carbs than stock? What are your oppinions on newer style carbs? Will carbs of an XJR fit on an XS11? Ive seen the Mikuni
RS36-D3-K but cant justify spending 800 dollars on a set. I would really love to but thats a lot of dough. You can get a set for the XJR for around 250 to 300 and that sounds better to me. Here are the links to the ones on ebay. Pros, Cons, and Opinions welcome. Thanks

One of the lads on the UK forum has XJR1300 carbs on his XS, Daniel is his name, he's in Thailand until October, but he might respond if you send him a PM.
I think Tom has some XJR1200's on his.
Basically the XJR carbs are the same as the later FJ models with some re-jetting, might be a cheaper option.
    I'm running re-jetted FJ1200 carbs on my XJR1200.

Yes I have FJ1200 carbs on my XS1100, they need rejetting to work and could do with some different needles (one day)

I also bought a set of XJR1200 carbs to try, again need rejetting but went back to the FJ set and will go back to try them on my next project (one day haha)

I've also bought ZRX1200 Kwak carbs to try and one day blah blah blah

And a set of GSXR 750 carbs...... gonna be busy if I ever retire.

Are they the same dimensions or did you have to modify them to get them to fit? Im looking for something newer. I figure that 30 years of technology could have a benefit of maybe a more reliable system. And that good original carbs are going to be harder to find. I have about 6 sets of Xs and most of them are junk. Jets seized up a d broke off, stripped, idle screws broke off you know the normal problems. Any info you can give me about the carbs you bought like years of bikes and size, jet sizes you have tried will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

The Yamaha ones fit straight in. The Kwak ones fit in but are shorter so need extra tubes for OEM airbox, but Ok with pods.

          Suzuki ones not yet tried.

Personally I would fix the XS11 carbs you have - its less work. Really!
