Anyone every try to replace the XS1100 Speedometer Gear Hub with a VMAX Gear Hub?

What diameter is the VMX spindle? The XS is 19mm if I remember.
I swap speedo drives between my XJR1200 and my XS as they are both the same size.

What is the ratio of the XJR1200 speedo drive? What speedometer did you end up using?

I've not got a clue. It's a 17" front wheel though on the XJR.
I've used the XJR drive on XS1100 Standards and a Midnight Special and use whatever clocks came with the bikes. The UK spec are the 160mph versions, my MNS has got some dodgy 140mph version off a god knows, maybe an XS750. That one does read a bit wrong when going past roadside speed detectors.
Whatever, I adjust my speed accordingly.
Going to Germany one year on an autobahn for an XS rally the lead rider, Brian, was using sat nav as a guide to speed and I was crapping myself because I thought we were going too fast.
Either way there isn't really a vast difference in speed readings between models but a speedo will always read low compared to sat nav.
Sorry that I can't be of much help.

That was a great help. I just have to figure out what gauges I want to use now. The big box on the XJ1100 looks horrible. I'm going for a sleeker look not really a cafe style because the lines just are not there. I edited a photo I will post next.

I edited a photo of the XJ1100. I like the look of the Honda on top. Everything is at the powder coaters or the paint shop. I am keeping the XJ1100 triple tree, but I got a set of handle bar clamps to lower the bars and eliminate the whole bar setup.
I need to lower the headlight and gauges next. I've seen multiple options, just not set on anything yet.

The clocks are a bit of a monstrosity on the XJ11.
I've used these ones before now > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SPEED...sAAOSwaB5XvwFo quite neat. They are making them with a tacho as a pair now, which might be good on the XJ.
That Honda looks nice, I can see where you want to be with the XJ looking at that, if you could only alter the angle of the forks on the XJ. Even so, the leading axle forks on the XJ, like on the MNS and the other XS Specials, seem to make them handle better than the Standard ones. Or is that just me?
