Bike broke down but kept going.

On my way, my bike lost power. I put gas in, tried to call Motoman. Then I thought of the pick up wires.I pinched off the vacuum advance with zip ties and the bike ran great. I love this bike. Even when it's broke it powers through.

Yep, these old scoots just keep going, its rare that something keeps them totally dead on the road that cant be fixed. Glad you figured out the pickup, advance problem. Its probably a good idea to really isolate the bad pickup wires and or vacuum leak. Regular maintenance and our xs,xj will probably outlast us. I have 150k plus on my xj and it still runs like it did in 85',,,,,,,,,,there is newer, modern bikes but ours are classics. Kind of like driving a new toyota camry or a 69' shelby mustang{our bikes}.
