    what is 0.10 inches in milimeters? 0.10 seems pretty big for the pickup coil gap

    Guess you weren't paying attention in Math class!

    There are 25.4mm in 1 inch, so 1/10 or 0.10 inches times 25.4 =
    2.54mm !! HTH.

        Sorry, I think I posted an incorrect gap previously, here is the quote from the Yamaha technical bulletin on the pickup coil gap:

        .7 Millimeters.

        OR .0275 Inches. (my conversion, do your own to verify)

        This is from the 79 Techinical Bulletin, available on Yamaha.com
