  • Where does this bracket go? and XS1100SF update

The work has begun on the new XS1100SF. I'm calling her the 500 Special. Did an overall cleaning of the bike. 0000 steel wool has been a life saver! All the pitted rusty chrome on the bike has polished up nicely. Changed final, middle and engine oil and filter today as well as the spark plugs. A few days back I put a little Marvel Mystery Oil in each cylinder and used the manual kick starter to turn the engine over, no worries there. Didn't have high hopes for the battery that came with the bike but I put it on the charger for a few days and the charge light finally tuned green. The bike powers on and all the turn signals work and horn. The carburetors were completely gummed up. Even the butterflies wouldn't open. I took all the jets out which was a challenge and the diaphragm only stripping one screw in the process. I honestly think these carbs have never been opened, Thankfully I have a parts washer at work and I was able to get the body of the carb nice and clean and blown out. I just sent a message to georgefix at ebay to see about getting new carb rebuild kits, the old ones are boogered. Next up on the list I guess is the brakes. Things are moving right along!

Ok finally getting to my question. Where does this bracket attach at? This is the breather hose off the middle gear and it has a bracket on the end. Mine is just hanging there and I have no idea where it goes. Yes I'm a newbie. If you could provide a picture where it goes that would be great. Thank you for your help.

I'm trying to insert a pic ...hopefully it works.

Directly in front of the post that the back of the gas tank slides down over is a bit of the frame that the top airbox bracket slides over and bolts to. The vent hose bracket that you are asking about bolts on top of that using the same bolt. If you have removed the airbox there will just be an empty hole there to bolt the vent bracket on top of.

Sorry, since I cancelled my photobucket account I have not figured out how to post pictures here but I can email a picture of it to you if you like.

Ok bracket has been handled but the carb kits........well you will get K&L from George fix and the issues will start from there I bought the carb kits from him and well found out after the fact the jets are not the same.

Look up http://www.jetsrus.com/ and go with the original mikuni stuff. I swapped out my mains and idle jets with genuine ones and the bike runs great now.

        emulsion tubes

If this in fact the carbs first tear down then pay attention that the inner tubes will have less holes than the outer and need to go back in the same place .
