  • Finally got a chance to check on my ignition...

Well, I finally got a chance to check out my ignition problem this morning...after several months... I checked out the TCI unit first, suspecting I might have blown it using Accel coils and no ballast resistor, so I popped it open and saw that one of the leads looked kinda nasty...so like an idiot, I put a jumper on it and put it back on the bike. No go.

Next, I unhooked the connectors that were no bypassing the ballast resistor, cut them, and soldered them together correctly. Still no spark.

Finally, I decided to make sure my pickup coil fix was still working alright as my ignition did fail rather quickly after all...so I pull the cover off and a bit of oil comes out...not a whole lot, just a good film...

2 of the wires are severed and 1 falls apart as I touch it...all of them coated in oil.... well DAG NABBIT...she has been sitting in time out all this time because of that!!! :/

Woohoo!!! Fixing the pickup coil wires did the trick! Maya is running again! I guess I need to suck it up and buy new pickup coils to avoid future issues.

Outlast the bike? This I don't doubt I will *definately* be picking that part up in a month when I can afford it. Man, it was awesome to have my XS running again, I can't wait to ride her again - though I have a Speed4, there is nothing like an XS11 between your legs.

Like I told my boss when she asked me when I was going to sell my XS since I got a new bike, "Sell my XS? No, she is a keeper"
