  • Euro bars on a xs1100

I got my bars in today and put them on. The clutch cable routing was a pain but I finally got it as good as I can with the cable now being too long.
I would post a pic but I am still trying to get that figured out. This forum really needs a gallery.

    Hey Leggman,

I edited your photo posts. You're using the correct links from imgur, but you're just pasting the links as is....and the site is seeing them as just web site links, and so that's why they are only being shown as web page active links. When you are creating a post, there's a PHOTO tool button, and when you click on it, it will then give you a popup window, and that's where you want to PASTE the photo url/link, and then it will put the "IMG" tags around it which tells the software to show it as an embedded photo like below. Looks good and I was not a fan of the factory bars either.

If you put the image address in between image brackets, the pic will show up here instead of everyone having to click the link. Like this...

I have the 2H9 kit on my bike from James, but decided to stay with my Superbike bars. It gives it a little more sporty appearance.

Went for another medium ride this evening and the bike is a beast. Ir runs so smooth and has more power than anything I have ridden before. I am so glad this thing is sorted out. The euro bars make it a real pleasure to ride.
We got it going just in time for winter.

OK Now I have another question.
Now that I have the better bars on my bike the front brake hose and the clutch cable are too long. I could just live with it but I am concerned about having such a radical bend in the front hose. It would be nice to replace the rubber hose with a braided stainless hose anyway.

Plenty of guys on eBay that make custom length SS brake lines, use a piece of vacuum hose routed the way you want to find the correct length.

If it was me, I would jack up the front end to get the maximum needed length and maybe add a half an inch. Also turn the bars to see how much difference that makes.

Mine is the same way and yes am going to just have lines made to the length I want. That is one thing on my list is to get rid of all the rubber lines......but am waiting to get the bike the way I like it first......

Goodridge makes a nice line that can be bought in various lengths. I run them on another bike and like them. Or like others have stated you can get custom lengths made.

There was a guy here locally that used to make brake lines for people but he told me that excessive insurance costs forced him to quit.
I should have bought his crimper.....

I understand that one as I am a fabricator and get people all the time wanting welding on hitches and vehicles. I wont touch them as I don't want the risk in case something happens......

I have built plenty of hitches for myself and not worried at all just don't want the risk.......
