XS11 Friends,
My UGLY DUCK is running really really hot.
I haven't driven her too much lately but had made some recent repairs/upgrades(2). I replaced the carb boots and the coils with new DYNA 3.0's.
The bike had been running rough and the coils did not pass the OHM check. I had a set of aftermarket replacement boots waiting in the wings and changed both items. This was a few months ago.....I had taken her for a SHORT ride and the rough was gone and I was pleased. I made no carb adjustments or other.
In preparation for the Vintage Yamaha Rally in Stecoah I've been on this steed a lot lately including a nice ride to work this morning (35 miles). I've noticed the bike is SMOKING hot. Can't even hold a hand on the cases. This is not normal. I'm also noticing a little blue on my head pipes....
I've got little time but am considering going up a size on the mains.... I'm leaving tomorrow for Stecoah and this is now risky business...
Quick Thoughts?
Sincerely,

- I notice the cheapo carb boots seem to "Pulsate" as I assume they don't have the aluminum inside like the OEM. But, my vacuum gauges do not indicate an air leak..... Pretty close to rock solid.....
- The valves were adjusted not much more than 1000 miles ago so I haven't checked there.
- The '80 carbs are jetted to the OEM spec.
- I'm wondering what these high power coils are putting into the equation? Anyone else experience this with these new coils?
- Clearly this is acting like a LEAN condition, but I don't see any evidence other than the hot as heck motor.
