Wow. After finally getting all of the wrinkles ironed out, knock on wood, this old gal is running beautifully.
I received my Colortune last night, and between that and the Carbtune have her purring like a kitten. The motor, with 20,000 original miles, is as quiet as can be. I think she may still be a tad bit lean in the mixture screws, but she's really, really close. Just a hint of burble on deceleration, no popping or anything.
I just took her for another spin, and opened her up a little more than I ever have. I must say that from around 6k to 8k, the power and acceleration are absolutely radical. I didn't redline her, but I did get close. I'm not one to really beat up on my stuff, but she pulls so hard up high it's phenomenal. The action coming from the shaft drive and the seat are something else!
I want to get her out on some lonely road somewhere without big trees, deer, and all the other associated things around here so I can really stretch her legs.
She leaves me wondering only one thing: Does anybody really need any more power than this?
PS- This 80 mph speedometer is a joke. I have no idea what Yamaha was smoking.
