Call me ignorant but what is the meaning of SWMBO? I've figured out most of the abreviations used online but not this one... This will probably get a few laughs...
Originaly the character Modjadji the Rain Queen in H. Rider Haggard's book "SHE", (1887) Modjadji refered to herself as She Who Must Be Obeyed. Haggard wrote several books, including "King Solomon's Mines".
The term SWMBO was popularized more recently in the British TV series "Rumpole of the Baily" (1979) where Rumpole referes to his wife, Hilda, as She Who Must Be Obeyed. The TV series was based on a series of books by John Mortimer and broadcast as part of the Mystery! series.
Aren't you glad you asked?
