    Suggestions on an oil cooler??

I want to put one on, just to calm my paranoid mind. I'm not necessarily running lean or hot, I'd just feel better if I had one on there...especially because I plan on getting an 1196 kit for it (1980SG). Am I being crazy?? Set me straight if so!!

Unless you sit in heavy traffic quite often, I don't see the need for one. JMHO

        Lockhart, or kerker

I had one on my bike when I first bought the bike. The only reason I took it off was because I had to change my pipes and no longer had the clearance to keep it on. If you will search Ebay for Yamaha xs1100 Lockhart you will see a few for sale. I tend to agree with phil, however, that unless you are driving in city traffic there is not much benefit of having one.

Depending on the exhaust system you have you could try a Yamaha original XS1100 oil cooler

            oil cooler

ERM, I have a nice chrome kerker oil cooler like this one on ebay:

            http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-SPECI...1XIA2T&vxp=mtr

That I'd sell for a lot less than that!

            PM me if interested.
            Thanks

WOW! $400.00 is a lot of cash. I installed one on one of my model E's from an 81H because I thought I would need it to pull a trailer. Really, I don't think there is a need. Even in stop and go traffic, it is situated above the headpipes and I suspect that it blocks some air to the head. I don't have any scientific evidence to the pros and cons of cooling of using one.
