Petcock mounting question

Attached is a photo of one of the two petcocks I ordered to replace the OCTY and the old petcocks.



I am in the process of carefully sanding off all of the paint from the surface that the petcocks will mount to.

What I am most worried about is gas leaking from the mounting screws. Additionally, I am worried about gas leaking from the gasket.

Is it advisable to use a squeeze tube gasket maker or some version of Locktite to make sure that there is a good seal against gas leakage from the mounting holes?

If so, what product is good for this application and not soluble in gasoline?

No sealer on the o-ring is needed, I use a little silicone grease on it. It mostly keeps the o-ring in the grove while mounting. You will need new fiber washers under the head of the mounting screws to keep them from leaking.

What are you going to do with the old parts? I could use them for parts for keep mine running.

I saw no attachments to the post. You are right about leakage along the bolt threads. Use no metal washers. I replaced the original crappy phillips bolts with newer bolts that were flanged to contact fiber washers. I think you can get fiber washers at Ace, but I got mine, years ago, from Lowes.

The manual petcock came with fiber washers and rubber washers. I suspect that the rubber washers are for between the screw and the petcock and the tank over the screw.
