  • Fyi side cover grommet

I nearly ordered Mikes XS side cover grommets, then thought local Ace hardware electrical dept. sure enough. They have number 405939 wire protective grommets, not perfect but so dang close for $1.20 each worked for me, compared to Mikes at $5.28pr. + S&H. I used a tiny bit of dielectric grease on the I.D. to get them on and a bit on the O.D. to allow the side covers to slip over.
    Anyone here give a RATS ASS OR 2 ? ? ?

      Done:

      That's useful information.

Can't wait to see what you find for the top of the covers

Good to know! I need to remedy mine now for about a year...been nursing the old one.

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

          Top

These work for the top back slot on the side cover, like I said a little dielectric grease (grease or soap, anything slippery will work) is what I used to slip them on to the frame peg and a little more to get the slot in the side cover to slip on to the middle of the grommet.
They can be trimmed down to work on the front hole but really fit snug. I trimmed off one flange leaving as much rubber as possible. I could not get the hole in the side cover to slip over the protrusion of the gromett so I pushed it through the side cover hole then with the side cover pushed it over the front stud on the frame.
They fit really tight so I'm less likely to loose a side cover as long as I surly do push the side covers on to these.
BE CAREFUL AS TO NOT CRACK A SIDE COVER !

I could post some pics ? If you like ?
