This site most often gets into some spirited info sharing. It is however in most cases very informative. You just need to pick through the suggestions for what best suits your needs. I mentioned stainless brake lines in my previous post. These are the ones I bought off of Ebay and they fit the bike great. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-St...RYTtTx&vxp=mtr.
A couple of other good reads for you. They both contain interesting information and sources for parts.
....Coyote. And congrats on your bike. Yes you should be congratulated. These bikes are very special.
---On your wrist pain, I picked up a little plastic "flap" called the "CRAMP-BUSTER" that spreads the load to the palm and wrist. Cheap, and it works great.
---On your mirrors and pipes, leave them stock! Bars too. Mine had drag bars and headers on it when I bought it, but, fortunately, the guy had the original bars and exhaust system. So many people swapped this stuff out to suit them, and 37 years later, wish they had an all-original bike.
---On your oil, I've found my '81 LH MNS tends to slip on synthetic, so I went back to Castrol GTX 20W50.
I had an '81 XS850LH in 1982-83, but a cage totaled it. Been wanting another since. About 5-6 years ago it came to me again, but in 1100 form. Mine is serial number 100103, but I've read that they started at 1 for the '81's.
One other thing. If you don't do fairings but want a little something, look for a Yamaha "Mini-Cruiser" windshield. I've got one, it's not very big, but it's an OEM part made for this bike. You can see mine on the bike pics thread, about page 76.
Take care of what you've got, man. They don't call them "Special" for nothing!

Yamaha "Mini Cruiser" Windscreen, K & N filters, Iridium Plugs, ATK Fork Brace, LED T.S. Conversion, Bridgestone S11 Spitfires.
Otherwise all original, definitely a Survivor.

Sorry for the multi-posts. I can't edit my last ones. Here's the windshield with hardware: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACC-11143-05...RYgPSb&vxp=mtr
In my humble opinion, these look great, and help to deflect oncoming air, albeit much less than a full-blown fairing or windshield.
Hope this helps.
