  • Venturer fairing bracket removal?

Question: I have a 1981h XS1100 Venturer. I've removed the fairing. Can I unbolt/remove the fairing bracket and then attach the oil cooler to the bike's frame without the fairing bracket being there?

          Okay Nate and Frank,

WHAT'S the answer? I looked at the official microfiche for the 81H and saw the Oil Cooler radiator and mounting, but it didn't have the fairing mounting, and so I wasn't sure if the cooler mounting used the same holes as the fairing frame mount.

TC, the fairing and the oil cooler are both separate items. The oil cooler sits on the outside of the fairing bracket and the two bolt onto the fairing in the 2 threaded holes in the upper part of the front downtubes.

Yes, same 2 threaded holes. 2 bolts hold both the fairing and oil cooler brackets onto threaded holes in the frame's 2 downtubes. Remove the fairing bracket and screw the oil cooler bracket back on.
