  • XJ1100 re-assembly questions

I replaced the intake manifold boots and cleaned the carbs and adjusted the valve clearances.

I have decided to delete the octy.

I am re-plumbing the fuel lines with clear Tygon.

There are hoses dangling at the moment.

    1. Large diameter breather hose from the rear of the engine/transmission.

    2. Skinny diameter breather hose from very near to the large diameter hose.

    3. Medium diameter breather hose from the bottom of the air box.

    4. Sensor hose from a sensor below the fuel tank.

I assume that one or more places are capped or plugged due to the absence of the octy.

Where do the dangling hoses connect? I should have taken pictures before dis-assembly.

The large breather hose is the crankcase and hooks to the airbox, the smaller breather hose is the middle drive breather and should have a place to mount near the rear of the seat. It just remains open. #3 I have no clue unless its simply a drain tube for the airbox. The sensor hose should hook to the front of the #2 carburetor. Not the boot, the carburetor.

      Thanks. That helped.

Large breather tube attaches to a nipple on the front top of the air box. I should have re-connected this hose before re-installing the carbs. You have to route between carb #2 and #3. The airbox hose clamp for #3 touches this hose no matter what. I will try to find a shorter screw to see if that will avoid chafing this hose.

The sensor hose is now connected to the carb #2 nipple.

The airbox has a nipple on the bottom with a hose attached. My guess is that this hose is an emergency fuel drain in case the airbox becomes filled with fuel. It may be intended to just hang down low in the middle of the frame.
