  • Surface preparation for Yamabond?

Soon I will be re-installing the valve cover and installing new intake manifold boots, re-mounting the carbs, etc etc.

I just ordered a tube of Yamabond #4.

What is the proper surface preparation for achieving a good Yamabond seal for the valve cover? Same question for the intake manifold boots.

Clean and dry, don't use too much sealer.

Wipe it down to remove oil and scrape off any old gasket cribblies, then hit it with some brake cleaner or acetone.

If you spray the head, try to aim the spray so it blows stuff out and away from the cams and valve buckets, not all over them.
