  • Colors, colors, colors

I am contemplating deviating from my self imposed OEM standards. I am in love with the color of my '80G (diamond gray?) which I plan to restore. As I have acquired a '81H fuel tank for obvious reasons it will have to be repainted one way or other. So since original paint colors are not reliable/available, I decided to go with the prettiest/classiest/brightest white used by yamaha for which codes are available.
Anyone familiar with these Yamaha colors:

    00GE Silky White (SW)
    00Y5 Shirobal White
    00EL Harbor White (HW)
    0206 Purplish White Solid #1 (PWS1)
    00UJ Radical White (RW)
    0036 White (WW)
    0390 Bluish White Cocktail #1 (BWC1)
    000B White Solid #1 (WS1)
    001A New White (NW)
    0240 Pure White (PURW)
    0241 Polar White (POW)
    0892 Bluish White Solid #1 (BWS1)
    00Y9 New Pearl White (NPW)
    0738 Yellowish White Solid #3 (YWS3)
    GA5E White Coat #5 (WC5)
Suggestions appreciated, also a source where I could possibly sample them some how.

Why do you care if anyone is familiar with the listed colors? You can probably spot the color you like on a manufactured car or truck and then go to the paint store and order it from a catalog.

Honestly I never even thought of that. Stuck on Yamaha brand I guess. That being said have you ever picked out a paint color and after application turned out to be somewhat different than expected. Agreed final choice/decision rests with me, just fishing for anyone else's possible experience with same.

That is why I suggested that you look at painted autos to see if you like any of those manufacturer's colors. You get to see them in the sunshine rather than from a catalog, and the paint stores are good at matching. Granted, you are more limited that way, but there are some nice colors of Japanese cars (and more recently, american).

          Colorite web site

I have no idea what any of the Yamaha whites look like but here is a search link for their site. Many of what you have listed are in this search.

Was tooling around one day, and saw a Chevy truck at a park near here. My '64 Chevy Impala needed painting, and I was on the look out for a cool color. I asked the guy what the color code was that was on his truck, and it ( if I remember right) was printed inside his glovebox. Turned out to be 'Quasar Blue Metallic', and it was really a great color. Went to the auto parts store and got that exact color, and had my Impala painted with it, and loved it. Wish I had that Impala back.....
