  • Left Side Cover Latch Repair

I saw this on Ebay, anybody ever tried one?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Side-Cover-R...9RbE1J&vxp=mtr

I know that the side covers are NOT interchangeable on all models but maybe the plastic latching tab on the inside of all the covers is the same shape? There are some old threads about repairs with super glue, baking soda, and a file as well using plastic weld...seems a fella would have to be a pretty good whittler to fashion something that works well!

I bought one and it's great. I also have an alternate set of covers where I did the super glue fix because it was just the hook part. It took three stages to build it up. That works great, too.

The super glue gets brittle and easily chipped/broken, like fiber is used in fiber glass some fiber thread helps strengthen this repair. I used some rip stop nylon from an old jacket with the super glue and baking soda over the nylon and dremeled it to shape, worked very well.

I actually just put one of these on my bike. It gas been off for nearly a year now and I finally got around to painting the covers and put it on. Just follow the directions and be sure to use some thread locker or that tiny screw will work it's way out.
