Looked like nice progress, but I'm not a fan of the license plate location. My Hayabusa is setup that way and my shin seems to find it every time.
Also, I can drag my pipe now. Are you going to raise the back?Gene (Florida)

Wishing ya the best!!
The cafe thing is not my deal personally (SPECIFICALLY for riding reasons), but can't wait to see what you come out with!!
I'm going to probably do some customizing to my SG (in my signature..."dottie". need an updated picture), but nothing that isn't reversible. My plan is to have one XS COMPLETELY stock, and one that I want to tweak to be as light / fast as possible. As I said: NO modifications that are irreversible.
One of the reasons I made this post is because I wanted to brag about this deal I'm getting on a VERY CLEAN, stock SG...my buddy got a dyna, just had a kid, and wants to get rid of his SG. He knows how obsessed I am with my SF / SG, so he's selling it to me for a STUPID price because he wants it to go to a good home. Another reason for this post: to each their own, but if it's close to stock (ESPECIALLY the XS11's), KEEP IT THAT WAY! It'll perform the best that way for the most part. On to my "STEAL":
The only thing it needs:
A cam chain tensioner. I have an ACCT in my car as we speak. ALL original besides that. It has 31,000 miles.
PRICE?! (WAIT FOR IT...)
$400. THAT'S IT.
Still going to go through'er when I pick'er up (gonna need your all's help on those 80 carbs), but yeah...what a freakin' deal. Adding a 3rd to the herd!
Gonna keep up with this thread and your progress!!80' XS1100 SG "Dottie"
79' SF carbs
MAC 4-1
K&N Pods
Accel 3.0 coils
Tarozzi fork brace
TC fusebox

Look around and you'll see we've the least café-able machine around. The 650 was mentioned above. It's a go-to for the bobber crowd AND café guys. I'm more or less restoring my XS1100, but I'd say you need to probably land an XS-650 and bob it or better bet, do a brat style. When I was in the market, there were a FEW XS650s in the $500 and under range. Just nothing in my neighborhood.
PS if you're determined to café your Eleven, you're going to want to get familiar with Andy's Motorcycle Obsessions on Social Media. You'll find him on YouTube and facebook. His flagship project is an eleven, but he does a lot on old metric bikes of different flavors.Last edited by puskrat; 08-20-2018, 11:58 AM."Venturered" 80 XS1100G - "DoraMax" getting sort of resto/destro ed.
Yeah it's a pretty blue, but just because you're old is no excuse to buy a bagger. Fortunately I have wrenches.

I shouldn't stay away so long. I come back and post where I've already been."Venturered" 80 XS1100G - "DoraMax" getting sort of resto/destro ed.
