I'm heading up I-70 today, going over to Kremmling to stay at the 2017 Colorado Rally campground and do some riding on the rally roads. Will let you know how well the 80SG does (it does well!).
Key is to find out if there is some crap in the carb, if so more than likely it's not just in the carb but in the fuel system. I've cleaned a set of carbs 10 times or more and after each cleaning the bike ran great for 5 miles + or - but then would end up the poorly again until I thoroughly cleaned tank, lines, petcocks and carbs too again. Checking what is in the carbs (into a small dish) draining into a container to see what comes out.
Doubtful it's just dirt in the carbs only (where did the dirt come from), likely it's in the system.
Fixing it with one cleaning of the carbs is just dang luck.
Go get a lotto ticket ASAP !!!!!

I don't have a 12-string guitar, but as I try to remember, you gan'y get a super slinky e string from a 6-string guitar into the three holes in the throat of the pilot circuit. Not trying to argue, but that "can" be a restriction/strainer of gunk.
