  • 79 xs1100 special grab bar

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a 79 xs1100 special that I've owned for 3 years. Been a work in progress but after 3 years I finally found an original grab bar that was missing. Problem is I think there had been some modifications around the rear fender. I would love to see some pictures of a 79 special grab bar and the frame so I can see how it should be properly mounted.

    Would greatly appreciate some assistance.

    Thank you.

Thanks Cajun. I've seen that brochure but unfortunately I can't tell if the bar is attached to the frame and the chrome fender or just the fender. There's been some welding to the frame. I'd post a pic but haven't figured it out yet. Also wondering how many points the rear fender is attached to the frame.

        Thanks cajun,

Unfortunately there's not enough detail for me to see behind the turn signal.

There's been some welding to my frame. I'm trying to figure out if the bar mounts to both the frame and rear fender or just the fender. Also trying to understand how many mount points the rear fender is supposed to be attached to the frame. I'd post a pic of my frame but haven't figured that part out yet.

The mounting bracket on the grab bar mounts to the bolt that goes through the frame holding the fender.
