  • Triple tree chrome cover

Does anyone know if the bottom triple tree chrome cover with Yamaha emblem from any of the other XS specials ie 650, 750, 850 will fit the 1100 special?

I have one from a smaller cc model (don't know exactly which model) on my 11 Special, It needed some massaging though. The holes for the fork tubes are too small so they need to be ground out 2MM and the center to center measurements are wider on the smaller unit so the piece needs to be slightly bent to a slight curved shape. The Yamaha emblem needs to be heated and curved slightly. After all that, it looks fine and you probably would never be able to tell it's not the correct 11 piece.

Haha, the cover has actually rusted up a bit and is looking much like the original. Gonna try painting it (the old one) with black wrinkle finish and heat cure.

          That's cool. There's a lot more tidy 650 ones than 1100's

            XS750 / XS850 are Same

I know the XS750 Special and XS850 Special are exactly the same as the XS1100 Special, noting the XS850 doesn't have the holes on the sides to mount reflectors. The holes are easily drilled if you need them.:

I've got a black one from my MNS that's in OK condition. I think that's what the EU used on their model. I no longer have the MNS, so let me know if it might help, and if so I can send a couple of photo's via email.

                    Robbo

Good luck finding one on you ebay site. Food for thought. Here is one I found on Ebay here in the US http://www.ebay.com/itm/1981-Yamaha-...p=mtr#shpCntId. Checked the shipping to the UK and it would be more then the sell price of the part. Don't know how desperate you are to get one.
