  • sleeving an XS1100 down to 1025cc for AHRMA?

Anyone looked into or have tried to sleeve an XS1100 down to 1025cc? I've been researching a little bit to see what it would take to race an XS1100 in AHRMA vintage heavy weight superbike and it looks like you can do it, just need to sleeve it down to 1025cc which seems like a major PITA. I'm curious, has anyone else has tried it?

I know people have put larger sleeves to bore it out to 1225 and larger. Smaller would just require someone to make the proper size sleeve, and possibly machine down the wrist pin to fit the smaller bore. As the bike is 1102 stock, it's probably .5mm to .75mm smaller bore. should not be that hard....
An oven at 250F, barrels sitting on a 2X4, and the fins just slide off. Flip it over to put the new ones in.

That sounds like a cool endeavor! There's a video somewhere of someone racing one back in the day, even shows a rear tire change in the pits with the shaft drive. I believe it was footage of an entire race not just snippets. Anyone know where that link is?

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

Would a shorter stroke be of any advantage in achieving the same or near same displacement ?

Nope........compression ratio would be of loss, even it was able to fire the fuel/air mixture. Add in even finding somewhere that could custom build a shorter throw crankshaft would be like findin' hen's teeth. With those added together, definitely would a step backwards, aside from the drastic power loss.

Maybe XS750 pistons and sleeves are an option? Never took one apart but as the xs1100 is based on the 750 with a bigger bore it could be possible ..

                    What?

Make an XS1100 into an XS1025? I believe we are in the area of more trouble than it is worth.

If you need a bike for a 1025 racing class, don't think an XS1100 is any where close to the right choice.
