Topcat, no they aren't piped together to run 1 filter. All carbs can pull air from all 4 filters.

I THINK that would disrupt the airflow into the carbs at high speeds. There is a reason the stock airbox had velocity stacks for each carb. It takes about 2" from the carb to the end of the stack to have the airflow moving clean. If it's still tumbling, you can't get as much air into the engine.

These are what I'm running. I have no high RPM issues.

I had my engine start flattening out and it had a bad stumble at WOT at about 3.5K. ( see my loss of power and my exhausting problems threads) After going through EVERYTHING twice or 3 times trying to get it fixed I finally pulled the mufflers off my MAC system and WOW! After trying several different muffler configurations I finally came up with this custom setup that works well. 1 7/8 straight through perforated baffle wrapped in SS wool.

It still has a little stumble at WOT about 3.5K but not bad. It still runs best with the headers wide open but it makes my ears bleed.

I guess because I had to open up the exhaust to get rid of the restriction the pods aren't slowing down the intake any. Just sayin'.

Greg, I was talking about having different flows/pressures from the mixed pipes. Yours would probably get rid of the stumble with just a little bit between the pods and the carbs.
Just a guess from about 50+ years of working on stuff....
Oh, yea, and a little jab for fun.
The big thing is you have the 4 pods, ONE PER CARB, with NO interconnect. I think rangerguy has all 4 pods open to all 4 carbs, and that WILL cause problems if you don't have something to smooth out the air flow.

About 40 or better for me also. (counter punch)

Isn't having the intake connected to all four carbs sorta the way WICS works? Other side of the carbs though. but, he does say it runs fine with them removed.

There is no stumble in mine if I remove the mufflers.

So 4 pods feed one box, then each individual carb draws from the box? Like a 4-1-4? Yes, probably isn't helping things. The carb throats themselves aren't as long as the intake bells in the stock air box would give very different airflow as has been said.

Do guys have issues running K&N pods vs the knock-offs? It's always surprised me the XS1100 doesn't respond to pods in general the way most bikes do, at least that's what some guys say.

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462
