Non ethanol gas
Gasoline with ethanol has been shown to cause many problems with older engines, alcohol separation, chemical attack on rubber carb parts, percolating, etc. Not to mention using our food supply to make ethanol, and large government subsidies to producers coming from our tax dollars!
In almost all states, non-ethanol gas is available. Check the website pure-gas.org for locations in your state. I am afraid California may be a lost cause, sorry.
I drive 35 miles every few months to fill 4 cans, 22 gallons, which I use in the antique car, bike, and small engine equipment back home.
