    So it's a 1981 xs1100 H, Canadian, originally indigo blue

Does that make it a Venturer?

This is EXACTLY how I'd like a Standard to look! Except, I really like the Venturer blue.

Yes, an 81. Didn't the 81 have swirly wheels?

Peace of mind for yourself, if serial no. starts with 4R1, tis' an 81 Venturer. Serial no. is located on right-side on steering neck. Also, if motor original, serial no. is on right side, top of engine case above clutch cover, stamped into a rectangle recess. If engine is original, that serial no. matches frame serial no..

    Good to know, thanks. Tomorrow.

The black ring-groove on the engine's alternator cover says '81, you should probably change the 'sig after you check the serial numbers, it could be a Frankenbike.

    A mystery - cool!

I do remember that the serial number on the steering head ended in 00043x. It was all I could see with the fairing on, and haven't looked since.

I'll check on things tomorrow. Leafs vs Jets is on.

Frank, do the YAMAHA logos on the tank have two screws holding them on?
81 H 6.2 gallon (US) tank does not have screws...all other years do.
Is it time to welcome another Venturer back into the fold ?

    hi Frank,
The mystery continues. That looks like an 81H that has been painted maroon. Cues are: Front fairing. slotted rotors, saddle, Bags, rack, rear turn signals on a bar. short Special exhaust. rectangle foot rests.
That is a longlist of 81 parts for it to be a 78E
Check date of manufacture on the neck and confirm vin# is same on both.
Somewhere on here is a list to identify all the serial numbers.
    Check TCI part number 4RO-

Can you get it inside as this warm spell will not last.
