    Hi TC,

CJ sent me a photo of the other end of this slug/pin, looks the same on both ends !
Is there any logical way one of these pins was lost/dropped into the crankcase during assembly at the factory ?

CJ could you measure this pin for length and diameter ?

I've seen a very few really strange things done/not done at the factory, guess anything is humanly possible.

    Very interesting !

That looks plausible..but only if he took the shift drum OUT?

The other thing it looks similar to is one of the 3 pinch rollers for the starter clutch, but they shouldn't be able to come loose/out on their own??

      Dremel gear fix worked!!!

Just an update on my 1t gear...klunk, klunk, klunk, slip...'79 sf thread. I finally got enough dry ground to get her out of the shop and out for a test ride. Tomorrow have hand surgery left palm blood clot (hyper thenar hammer syndrome) so I wont be riding for several weeks and I had to know if the trans is fixed or go mad wondering if it cured the probs. It did!!! it's shifting beautifully and run's like a shaft driven freight train...love this bike! thank's all with the advice to flip her over and do the deed. I can't wait to get her out and put some miles on when my hand is better. Spring is right around the corner! Charley.

Be careful man! If you are on blood thinners, you don't want to risk a mishap!

Thanks Skids. I took her for a 10 mile ride on Thursday. These bikes sure have a tall 1st gear much taller than my fj1100...and torqueier at lowe engine speeds. I love my 84 fj1100 but I think this old girl will get ridden more! What a sleeper...perfect for me and the misses to do some twoup distance and with the bags and windjammer lots of space for all the gear we wanna pack. I am in the hospital now waiting for the go ahead to go home looks like. 4 to treed some 6 weeks before I can pull in a clutch again 😔 Charley
