Michelin Pilot Activs

I'll be putting them on come Spring. Entertained the Shinko's, but I don't have good luck, and I figured I'd get the ONE tire that has an imbalance issue.

I'll report how they are.

I have a Michelin on the front of my Honda. Road Pilot III? I have a couple thousand miles on it and it has performed well.

I have the same problem with pants I am sure many others will be interested to hear your views on the Pilot Activs. I expect Michelin will have produced a fine tire so it will really be a cost to distance calculation ?
On the XS Shinko do fine for low cost and not too far at least for my style of riding.

Lasertec and ME are made by Metzler...so we have three brands in the mix so far

Yeah, I know. But, they stopped making the ME's in the 17" rear size. So, I thought the Lasertecs would perform just as-well.

I've run the PR4GT's on my C14.
IMHO, they were "OK" tires, but overpriced.
I got less miles out of them than PR2's.
Rear tire mileage comparison- PR4GT was 8000 miles. PR2- 12,000 miles.
Front tire- PR4GT was 10,000. PR2- 14,000 miles.

They're marketed to last 25% longer than previous Michelin PR models, but I got 25% less. But I paid $120/set more than PR2's.

PR4's and PR4GT's are good rain tires, but I've never had any issues with PR2's in the wet, either.

Standard PR4 has 2 ply sidewalls. PR4GT's have only 1. But when I spoke with a Michelin rep about why the GT with only 1 ply sidewall was the recommended tire for my "heavier" bike over the PR4 w/ 2 plies, they couldn't explain why.
The GT rear (in my bike's size,) costs $10 more than the PR4.

I won't waste the extra money on them anymore.

The "loved" tire in the Connie world is the Pirrelli Angel GT A spec.
Guys love how they grip and handle, better than the PR4GT's.
But they don't last as long as the PR2's, and cost a bit more.

Best bang for the buck I've found has been the PR2. Not sure they make it in the XS sizes, though.

Best tire I found for my Maxim was the E3. I got 20,000 miles out of the rear and 25,000 miles out of the front! Only person I've heard that didn't agree was Trbig. He got far less, and has gone with other brands that are cheaper.
Greg's had good luck with E3's.

Just my experiences, especially with PR4GT's.
IMHO, the 4's went backwards in longevity compared to PR3's or 2's, but went way up in price. Their marketing brags of 25% longer life to justify the extra cost was the deal breaker for me. Add in the fact that they couldn't explain why a 1 ply sidewall tire would cost more than a 2 ply, and be "recommended" for heavier bikes sounds fishy to me, too.

So, since they don't make it to fit the 11, don't worry... you're not missing out on anything except spending more for less...
