  • Carburetor gasket and O ring help

Has anyone documented the sizes for aftermarket o rings, etcetera for XS11 carbs? It looks like kits with the bowl gaskets and tiny washers run $28 and up. If there is a thread with this info a link would be great.

I don't have the size specs for the O-rings, but here's a kit where you can get the gasket and float valve/needle/seat/O-ring for $14.96 ea + S&H. The seat/valves are probably K&L brand, so you may not like them vs. Genuine Mikuni.

Also for the other smaller pilot screw O-rings, it was recently posted about, can't recall it now, but another source are the Nitrile O-ring packs you can get from Harbor Freight for just a few bucks. I have used one of them for my float valve seat O-ring. I'm pretty sure there's one small enough to function as the Pilot Screw O-ring.

Mikes also sells the pilot screws, spring, washer, o-ring, even the blind plug! $9.93 ea.

I was going through a few Keihin carbs a while back and got O rings from the hardware store and mix screw washers from Radio Shack. The float bowl gasket was just a large O ring that formed itself to the contours of the bowl nicely. The Honda shop sold by the piece and I could not make myself pay those prices even for just 2 cylinders. Was hoping someone rounded up the soft parts and recorded the sizes for future reference.

I picked up this to keep on hand for the next time I do my XS1100 carburetors. For $15.99 it will give you a complete o-ring rebuild.

Been reusing the original float bowl gaskets forever, no problems.

As well, I bought a viton o-ring assortment from Harbor freight for like $9 bucks and I have plenty of luck using those as well for the needle seat o-rings on the 80SG.

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

Going to get the kit they have with bowl gaskets. These are petrified. Planning to record the proper sizes for future reference. Have you used one to do a carb?

I should have paid more attention to TC's post. My bad. I did buy four complete carb rebuild kits from Georgefix in 2008 when I bought my SG because it was dumping fuel out the airbox. But have since learned to source only the parts (o-rings usually) I need for minimal cash outlay.

The kit TC shows from MikesXS is a good choice, combined with one of the o-ring kits I posted from eBay and you have a great rebuilt set of carbs leaving you with a spare set of needle seat o-rings to use later on.

Maybe for the simplest and cheapest potential solution, if you don't need float needles, do this bowl gasket (x4) https://www.mikesxs.net/yamaha-xs650...-14984-01.html from MikesXS and one of the o-ring kits from eBay. The eBay kit has the needle seat o-rings and fuel screw o-rings.

They are, and have been NA from dealers for a decade or more now, as they are not necessary. They were just inserted in those locations to keep fingers like ours out of and off the carbs.

If the idle mixture screws, once removed are missing the teeny thrust washer and O-ring, they are available from Suzuki manufacturing.
