I think i have 6 bikes in my garage i havent looked for a while. My main bike is titled and licenced. 2 of the other 6 have titles but i havent tried and the other 4 i think dont have titles. I have heard rumors of some states only needing a bill of sale to get a new title. My thought was if someone on here lived it on of those states would title one for me I would send bill of sale and money in return for a clean title.

          Title

How long since it's been registered/licensed, if you know ?

Have you already contacted the state division of motor vehicles ?

I've titled 2 bikes that had no title.
Here in Wi. if the VIN. has not been registered for 10 years the bike/Vin. is no longer active and dropped from the system (considered abandoned). The person that had it titled last (ten years or more) is no longer in the system, the Vin. is up for grabs so to speak.
This is easy here to find out by simply requesting a title. If there is a person shown in the system to have had the bike titled in the last 10 years you may claim (mechanics lean) have been abandoned. If the former owner wants it back there will be a BILL that needs to be paid for work performed and storage, enough to buy a new bike if the former owner wishs to pay.
If it was stolen the former owner most likely has been paid off by the insurance company. If they still want it back it will be time consuming on their part most likely more trouble than it's worth to them (again you claim abandoned and mechanics lean).
Just ask your DMV (vehicle titling) if they can help you. They also just want the money and if you try to do the right thing, most likely they will help you.
