As we all know these things are not very dependable. I need to know if you can gut them out and they just be a decorative item....... This is the last time I'm dealing with a puddle under my bike at random, last thing I want is a fire between my legs at 80mph. Not exactly the finest way to warm your ballz .....lol

Petcock question

You have to get fuel to your engine, and you have to be able to shut it off. Therefore, the most straightforward answer to your question is no. Now, if you want to approach the issue a little differently, there are lots of petcocks that are more decorative, and also simpler in operating principle. There are a few threads on the topic or including it."Venturered" 80 XS1100G - "DoraMax" getting sort of resto/destro ed.
Yeah it's a pretty blue, but just because you're old is no excuse to buy a bagger. Fortunately I have wrenches.

Wasn't thinking about shutting off the fuel, the petcocks never worked on this tank so I've been running on the prime possion. It's got 2 1/4in inline shut off valves. The things just leak intermittently and when they do its bad. I also don't think they're delivering fuel properly cause it's cutting out at 6500rpm under a load. That has been consistent since I got the tank. I just want to turn them into a fancy looking nipple basically79 XS11 F

I ditched my stock petcocks years ago in favor of a manual set from Parts N More, and never looked back. Haven't had a problem with petcocks since. Just sayin'...I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.
