We are still working on this **??? bike. Was in a fire before we bought it, still has intermittent problem somewhere in the wiring??
Disconnected the pick up coil, but still having issues. Jiggel wires and it starts then next time doesn't. Any hints or suggestions? He has all of the wiring exposed.
At least the 79 XS 100 special we have is running and we have been riding it. But we are getting ready to sell it once we get this one running. Any one interested, let us know. Runs pretty good, has some milege on it, but have replaced alot of parts on it.

Thanks fo rnay help you can give us.

These pick-up coil wires can be repaired. Do a search for pick up coil, and there should be detailed instructions. I had a lot of trouble with mine, and I finally ordered new pulser pick-up coils from Bike Bandit, and solved my problems. They cost me $110.00 delivered. I repaired mine by finding the break, cutting them open, putting a short piece of heat shrink tube on the wire, baring about 1/4 inch on each end of the cut wire, pushing the ends together, and soldering them, then AFTER this cooled, center the short tubing over the repair and heating with a propane lighter (BIC). However, this is temporary, cause if the wires broke in one place, they will most likely keep breaking in other places. They are over 25 years old and get brittle. I know it sounds like a lot of money, but the pulser coils have better wire on them. and should last 30-40 years.
