XS Folks,
A few weeks ago I picked up a nice (but gummy as heck) set of '82 XJ carbs at the local junkyard. They were complete and undamaged but gummy having likely sat for YEARS on a shelf and had obviously were put up full of fuel. I have spent countless hours, at least six cans of carb cleaner, the ATF & acetone mix, Berryman's cleaner (absolutely worthless in my personal opinion), brass brushes, my daughter's violin strings, q-tips, and a variety of other implements to get these suckers clean. I believe I am ready to start setting the floats.
In order to change these to XS I had to tap the holes in the side of #1 for the choke lever. I also had to drill the holes in #1 & #4 for the XS choke rod since these are not used on the XJ.
Typically, the word on this forum is to set-up the carbs based on the model year of the carb not the motor. In this case I believe these should be set-up for the SG since the XJ motor has the YICS system allowing all cylinders to pull from the full bank the jetting would be very incorrect for my SG & SF motors. Something wrong with this thinking???
The idea was to have a complete set ready for service at a moments notice. Obviously these would need to be quickly synchronized to the individual motors.
Thoughts?

P.S. Yes, these have '78 Aluminum carb caps on them.... Got them at the junkyard too, I like 'em better and they polish up nice.
