  • Oil Filter Spring

Changed the oil on my 80 g this weekend discovered tha the spring and washer that go under the oil filter were missing. No problem i think I'll just take the one out of the spare motor well the washer was thee but no spring. Question is is anybody else just doing without. Get the spring it's only a couple of bucks but wonder if I can just wait till my next oil change to install it. Doesn't look like it does much any way just seems to hold the filter up so the holes for the bypass are uncovered. I haven't ran it yet will wait for some sage advice, Altough I'm not sure why who knows how long it's been that way.

    Filter Spring

Hey Russ The spring in the filter is a lot like the spacer in the wheel, you don't see it but Yamaha did not spend $$$. to have it left out at oil change time. Better get a new spring . Only a thought. bkr

      Oil Filter Spring

Russ, without the spring in there as the oil circulates most will simply flow around the filter cartridge without going through it and not be filtered oil.Go find a spring.
