  • Big Bore kit in a '79

Has anyone run the E-Bay big bore 1196cc kit in an early engine? I have a '79 that needs a rebore, but I don't want to risk bent valves or anything.

The Big bore piston is the same as the 1980 pistons dome shaped I have heard of people putting 78-79 heads on the 80's engines to increase compression. I remember someone here doing the clay on the heads to measure the clearance so you may try searching threads for 78/79 heads on 1980/1981 model engines. I do remember the discussion was that if you change head keep the cams particular to that head. So if its the 78/79 head use the cams from a 78/79 and use the 80/81 cams in the 80/81 heads or you suffer performance issues.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.
