      Hey Marty,

Just have finally been able to get on the site reliably only to see this!

Yep, like Ron said, pebble, oil, AC drippings, and those yellow lines are slipperier than the asphalt, doesn't take much to loose traction and go down! The XS must have put some VOODOO on your EV, what's that old saying you can't serve two masters, or can't handle two mistresses....something like that!

Get well quick, and hope you are able to get something $$ from the remains.

Marty Experiencing Internet/Site issues - Getting Better

          XS Folks,
I spoke to Marty yesterday. He's getting better, less sore.

Marty has had big trouble getting on this site since it went down. I suggested he run:/ipconfig/flushdns which SEEMS to have fixed all of my issues. He did it too, but it didn't work for him.

I am sure he will post up responses as soon as he resolves the internet issues.

          ATGATT!

There is a good thing that can happen as a result of our friend having this accident! How 'bout reviewing ATGATT?

Personally, I've ALWAYS worn highly VISIBLE clothing including a reflective vest and other bright colored garments. I've never been one to drive in shorts and short-sleeves but I haven't worn the best possible gear either.

Since Marty's accident I've been investigating new gear and speaking to Marty about it. Marty was absolutely properly equipped! If I were in the same type accident I would probably be in the Hospital still!!!

Marty: So sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you are healing. Shame about the bike, but as others have pointed out it's replaceable. Hang that brain bucket on your wall of shame. Get well.

Just getting back on the site like many others. Holy Cow! Marty, hope you don't look as bad as your bike. Cannot believe the front wheel was ripped off.

For many years I kept an old helmet that I was wearing when I had an accident, it looked a lot like those abrasion marks on your helmet. Poster picture for AGATT, don't leave home without your gear.

Hope you heal soon, or at least get to the point where it does not hurt like hell just to get up and walk around.

I don't know why or how, but for no apparent reason, I am suddenly able to be here on the forum. Thank you all for the kind words. I can't express here how much I appreciate it.

Here is a pic of the place that bit me.

This is the direction I approached from. I turned about 90 degrees to get here and the road straightens a bit. After the tunnel, the radius of the turn decreases, twice. You can't see it from the photo and it's worse from the southbound lane. I didn't note a sign about the turn, only the tunnel. The speed limit is 35, so it's likely I was going about that fast. I saw the truck coming when I passed through. I don't remember anything after that. It just went down as it did.

                        Marty,

Glad the internet gods have finally smiled on you! Still think it was something on the road that caused you to loose it. There's lots of foliage on that tunnel, as well as with the rain, water draining or dripping down. I remember when running thru some of the tunnels along the BRP there was often water dripping down on the INSIDE of the tunnels as well as at the entrances/exits! AGAIN, just glad you were geared up and had an otherwise good experience on your spill! BTDT!!!

Thanks, TC. It's nice to think that, but most likely it was too much speed in an unfamiliar place. I can't discuss my reaction because I don't remember it. It looks like a lot of brakes and how I did that without standing the bike up and plowing into the center of the grill is a mystery. The Moto Guzzi has linked brakes and not that overpowered rear brake like the XS11 has. So, I just don't know.

call Natural Bridge ? Glad you survived the spill. Certainly not good sight lines for what you describe as a double apex turn.
I have linked brakes on the Kawi and they certainly take some getting used to. I am told with ABS you can just stand on them but otherwise

No. It's an unnatural tunnel. It was made with dynamite in 1910 or something like that. It's actually a triple apex turn.
