I just picked up a Jackal a few weeks ago and its very easy to ride "spirited".

Shocked and sorry to hear this has happened to you, brother.
I'm just now able to log onto the site. Been unable to log on for the past 3 days.

Glad your gonna be ok. That gear saved you a lotta pain... especially that helmet! That could have been serious.

Sorry to see the pics of the MG. But, bike can be replaced... you can't!

I remember that look you're talking about from your wife. I crashed once on a Honda 600 Hurricane I had. It was July, 100 degrees, and I was young and dumb, and had never been down on a street bike before. 2 of my friends crashed in front of me, and took me with them. Shorts, tee shirt, tennis shoes...but did have a helmet on.
She never said a word... not even when she scrubbed the asphalt out of my road rashed wounds... but will never forget 2 things about that... how much that frikken hurt, and that look that said it all.

After a week of not being able to wear clothes and laying on the couch under a sheet, I was finally able to gather parts and paint, rebuilt the bike, and sold it.
Stayed away from bikes for the next 20 years... for my kids and my wife's sake.

Yes... I know that look.
Takes a good wife that loves you to give it, though.

I'm glad you're alright, Marty. I saw the first post here that said something happened but when I clicked on it the whole XS11 site disappeared for a few days!


Your bike looks pretty good but you know, if you ride with the center stand down and no front wheel you're going to hit stuff.

Marty, glad to hear your injuries were not real serious...........with the pics and all, sure brought back memories of the T-bone wreck on my ST that happened last June along with a two month hospital stay!........scary stuff buddy.

After seeing the photos...
SO glad you made it through with just bumps and scrapes. Although, I imagine you'll be feeling it for awhile.

Bless your wife's heart. There's nothing more terrifying than receiving a call that your husband has been in an accident. When I got the call after John's accident, I was just thankful I could hear him in the background. Anger doesn't need a part in those scenarios.

Marty, I am so relieved too hear that you weren't seriously injured, at first look at the pics I thought you hit the truck which most definitely would've been a darker outcome.

Glad you had all your equipment on. Looking at everything in the picture something that can't be seen or remembered probably took you down. In a curve like that you can hit something small with the front wheel like a rock or stick and the wheel kick out and you are down. So even though you take responsibility, do not take it too hard because instinctively you did the right thing. It is always better to go low side. I know its painful to loose the bike but just think if you had been in shorts a wife beater T and had flip flops on like a Harley rider I saw yesterday. Thank god our group has better sense than most.

Get well and things will work themselves out, you are ok that's the important part now.

Sorry to hear of the crash, Marty, and so very sorry to see what happened to your beautiful EV, which I totally envied. Glad that it wasn't worse on your own frame.

You got lucky. The bike was knocked backwards! You must have sailed right on by instead of taking the brunt of it. Heal fast buddy.

I look at the pics and try to think how the accident could have been avoided. Does not matter, only that you could walk away.
