In a recent thread, I think it was Motoman mentioned that back in the day Yamaha accessories offered chrome caliper covers. I've done a bit of googling but can find no images or anything of reference to them, so has anyone got any? or seen any? And were they made for the standards or specials?
Chrome caliper covers ?

Ah, I wasn't expecting them to encompass the disc as well, was thinking more along the lines of the chrome covers on the Lockheed calipers on the old Bonneville's, a bit of bling lol. Thanks for posting the pic Marty. Thats one well sorted Venturer of Mikes. Like itRob

At one of the rallies, I believe I took a pic of the front wheel up close. That pic is probably on the Facebook rally page.Marty (in Mississippi)

I just noticed one of two things: either that bike is a Special, with Standard tank, or he's got Special pipes on it.1979 XS1100F

Correct...
...in that it is a special bike with Special Pipes and the larger Standard tank

But it looks like it has standard side covers & forks??? Is that what a Venturer is? Dumbasses want to know?79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.

The Venturer was a one year only model(81) using Standard forks/frame with a bit of 81Special thrown in, exhaust, etc. The Venturer DOES use the 17" rear wheel like ALL the earlier yr. Standards. And yes, Venturer uses Standard forks, not leading axle forks like the Specials do. IIRC, Standards used KYB forks, Specials used Showia forks.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.Comment
