  • Service parts in Canada

    For my fellow Canadians

I send a request to a local Yamaha shop. Have this answer

"An oil filter kit with the main o-ring is $11.99. The drain plug gasket is $1.49. I have these items in stock.
An air filter sells for $53.49 from Yamaha and replacement screens for the petcocks are listed at ~$36 each."

Didn't say what brand of oil filter.

Where do you guys buy your stuff?
    - Air filters are $53?
    - Petcocks $36 each? - hopefully I can just clean up the existing ones.

and.. I hate to post this buuuut... what oil are you Canadians buying? I didn't see Mobil 1 here. I had everything sorted out in my mind for my Honda CB350F, but this XS machine is a little different (clutch not sharing the same oil as motor - correct?) For the Honda I was going to go with the Shell Rotella T 15W-40 unless I could find / afford the Spectro stuff.

Forgive me for asking the dreaded oil question

Yes the Clutch shares the same oil i'm running Castrol 20w50 don't use The Syn.stuff or you will notice the clutch slipping. Yes the OEM air filters aren't cheap I paid $45 for mine a couple of years ago.You Can Get a New K&N air filter for about the same price and it will last the lifetime of your machine..

Parts aren't cheap for these old girls but these bikes are pretty bullet proof if they are well taken care of. One more thing Canadian Tire carry oil filters for theses bikes Made by Fram Filters

    Hope this info helps

Yes that helps. I don't mind paying the price if its the right thing for the bike. Think the Honda air filters are dear too. I heard the Fram filter isn't to good though

Depending on what u need the better sources will change. For dispoasable stuff like filters etc i do bulk buys from parts more. It cuts down on the shipping and customs cost which for us in canada are crippling. We should band together and order and stock pile it someplace.Castrol gtx 20-50 is what you want for oil.

.....may wanna give the foam Uni-Filter a go if available there.........just soak in clean solvent a bit, then ring out, rinse with hot soapy water, air dry and re-spray a quick coat of PJ1 on it.
If ya' happen to not wanna wait a few to install, those evaporating solvents from the PJ1 DO seem to give the ole' 11 an extra kick for a short.

That Parts / More is an hours ride from you. Your lucky cause he charges US Funds if you order threw the internet. I know I've been there ordered some stuff in the past. good service though.

One more thing on your bike Leave it as is. Mine was a bagger like yours.

That fairing is a unit in itself. Once you remove that fairing you will need a Full headlight and socket and the ears that hold it with the reflective lens as the holders to the headlight and the hard part finding the original signal light brackets with the square lens. Good luck if you decide to go naked LOL!

I lucked out and took me almost a year to find parts and i bought them from a member on here that only lived about a 100 miles away.

Hey guys. I looked up their location - I am literally a few blocks from this place! Go figure.

I sent them a note to ask about retail outlet and here is the reply

                  "Hello,

Sorry, we do not have a retail outlet, we are a warehouse and shipping point only.

If you place your order online and mention in the notes you want to pick up, we can refund the shipping for you.

                  Thanks
                  PNM"

                  Hope that helps others.

                          Fairing

I want to put a fairing on mine so my bucket would be available. I also have a set of headlight ears that I had chromed when I was restoring mine, but yours may be just turned into the center. I believe I also have a spare set of the signals. PM me and we can talk.
