  • Production Numbers

Hello folks. First post - I searched a little but did not find if there is a listing of production numbers for each model.

Also did not see a introduction thread.

Not great at searching forums .

Thanks Greg. I did find that. Just wondering how many were made. For example, the 1978 XS1100E since I may have found one.

There is no definitive list. No one has ever published it that I am aware of. We just count the numbers in our own garages and smile when we see another one on the road.
        1980 XS850SG - Sold
        1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

78 VIN starts at 2H7 000101 and 79 VIN starts at 2H7 020101 so you could guess that anywhere between 1 and 20,000 were built.

                Hi Brian,
Welcome to the XS11.com. This topic has been discussed in the past with some guesses taken but no one seems to really know.
The rarest is the 81 H followed by the MNS ( that should get them going )

                  Close the loop

Just to close the loop on this thread since I bought a XS1100E...

My VIN is in the range of 2H7-1011xx - so over the 10,000 number.

                  Its a Canadian bike.

I think on the Canadian, and some other countries, the start number WAS 2H7-1XXXX. I know the US start number was 2H7-00101 for production. I did see SN 10103 about 10 years ago, owned by someone close to here. My first XS, a '78 delivered September of '77, was a 00254 SN.

XS1100 SF Bob Jones worked on it!
