  • ID this part




    what's the name of this thing behind the oil? the clymer does not say anything about it. once I open it up i see there is a long bolt inside.

    also I've been exploring the right and left covers (oil right and clutch left) and this part was on the ground. any idea what its for?

    Frame: 79 XS1100S
    Engine: 81 XS1100S
    Carbs: 78-79 BS34

    Gf bike: 78 XS650S
    Carbs: 70-79 BS38

    Those first pics are the crankcase vent cover. That hose will run to the back of your air filter housing.

    The last pic looks like an alignment pin for the alternator cover or clutch cover.

      would need to see all the way around it as it may be some spacer I have not encountered. Now the head uses alignment dowels and the side covers do to but the side covers are small and the head ones are about that size. That is a first best guess
      To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

        thanks BA80, the second part might be from my xs650se lol. i was in the clutch cover of both bikes.
