Awesome! That sure is a budget mod that takes away all concern and hassle about the CCT.

I did the mod on an I 80G fixed up then sold 3 years ago. Once I saw how easy it was I did it on my 80SG. The 80G was the Guinea pig. One of them came from an ATV and the other came from 520 Virago. I paid about the same as you or a bit less each shipped.

        Big thumbs up!

It is a great mod but not a totally maintenance free mod. The self adjuster has only one possible failure point in a bike. If you install it in one that may have had oil set for a time or any sludge then make sure and remove and clean the teeth on the unit now and then. If the unit runs for a long time and sludge builds up in teeth and then it needs to tighten up a tooth from wear or stretch that is the time it could slip. Clean it every 20K or so and it will always be your friend.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Good point. I would suspect that's a very gunked up engine if it's that thick and stiff to clog the teeth on the acct at the top front of the engine. Possibly there are other problems with that gunked up of an engine as well, like clogged oil passages. :-)

I checked the Official FICHE and they are different model #s, and also different styled gaskets...XS11 round center, 850 rectangular. But perhaps you can check the bolt to bolt center distances, and if the same, then you might be able ream/round out the opening enough to allow the ROUND portion of the ACCT to be able to fit??
