New coils

Dyna dc1-1 3 home coils arrived. The ones I'm replacing were attached by holes drilled perpendicular to the intended factory mounting holes in the center core bar. Is it acceptable to drill a 1/4" hole at each end to install these or should I make brackets?

Most of us use 'L' brackets, check the pics in post 21 in the following thread....
