6" vicegrips as clutch lever --not recommended but worked

Just as I was leaving Montreal last Monday, my clutch cable broke -- so I had to improvise a fix in order to get back to Vermont.

Should have followed the advice from this forum (for what to have on long trips) -- I will carry a spare (and throttle cable) from now on.

Can loop in a spare of both next to original hooked up ones. That way you don't have to remove fuel tank to install.

The same exact problem kept my bike in the garage all last week (and the weather was great all week!). I will never again be without a spare clutch cable. Nice improvisation though!

Ha! That clutch cable broke on me on Rising Sun years ago in San Diego. Had to do same vise grip mod to limp it home. Cool!

Same here. Great minds think alike. Luckily I did highway most of the way. Upshifting was without clutch. Take-off and downshifting required the grips.
