The finish on my carb slides is flaking off real bad, have not run into this before. Should I just go ahead remove the rest of the finish/coating?

Hmm. Seems like this has been addressed before? Annodizing would obviously not flake-off. I think it's some kind of varnish or clear?1979 XS1100F
