My brother has a V-Rod, and that bike will smoke an XS off the line, so obvipusly that dude could not ride. I took his for a spin for a few times, and it's like riding a V-Max. Pure muscle!

Agreed. I rode an early VRod a friend of a mine had, and it would eat up the XS from a dead start. And that is the stock bike, not a "200 Hp" version.. The XS1100 ain't a lot of engine below 3,000 rpm, whether we want to admit it or not...

I have beat a R6 to 80 now do not think I beat the bike just the guy riding it. And one more thing the guy you beat paid that much money for a Humpty Dumpty so how swift could he be.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

              Drag Race

Our 11s don't have the fastest bike status they once had 35 years ago, but their quickness still surprises a lot of people.

Much as we hate it, today's rocket bikes can out "squirt" our old machines by a bunch. As mentioned, Harley's have really good low to mid range acceleration, but nothing up top. Many others have as many as 5000+ RPMs left after the V-twins are finished.

I can vouch for the BMW K1200GT. Our 11s "Can't Touch This".

There's a guy driving a Bigger Bore Copper Colored HD around here that knows full well how un-fast his HD is on the top end!

He was in the left lane and looked over at me with that look. You know, that down his nose look?...."I got a HD and you're driving that POS Jap Bike". Either that or he thought I looked kinda stupid with my reflective vest on....

Regardless, He smoked me out of the hole from a stop light. I actually didn't realize we were about to race. I caught him in about an 1/8 and waved bye-bye at him as I blew past. He was ALL IN ON THE THROTTLE but had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING left.

This is the ONLY site I could find that put any kind of HP rating on the Night Train. It would take pretty much a miracle to get 200HP out of a 63HP 1450cc engine.

ROFLMFAO... Not Night Train... Night Rod...

Night Rod/VRod does 119 Hp at the rear wheel and 80 ft/lbs torque. The engine was co-designed with Porsche. 4 valve cylinder heads, 9,000 rpm redline, but not much faster in the 1/4 mile than the XS1100.

OK giggles, a 108hp 1800cc. Not a lot of difference. Still just a loud boat anchor.

Totally agree, the K1200 GT's a sport bike, and a quick one at that.
I can also vouch that even a C14 struggles to stay with a 1200 GS outta the hole, too! They're very low geared, and have a lotta torque!

Now, I'm not saying Cody beat me the one time we went stop light to stop light, but...
In his defense, he did strip the driveshaft out... ahem...

You had to be there. It was pretty funny...

I only had about 1200 miles on my C14 at that time.
His BMW GS1200 had around 80,000.
We're sitting at a light in Stillwater. He lifts his visor and tells me he believes his GS will take mine outta the hole. So, at that point, it's on.

I roll the throttle up to 5000 rpm, light changes, and I pull the front end, launching like a bullet. Went through the gears to 3rd, looked back... no Cody!

Turned around, went back, there he was on the side of the road with what seemed like a blown clutch!

One and only time Cody rode bitch on the back of my bike.
Went and got the truck/trailer. Took BMW Tulsa 3 weeks to figure out it wasn't the clutch... he'd stripped the rubber that's GLUED to the round driveshaft and broke the adhesion. I wonder how those shafts pull the GS and RT's even a foot... but somehow they do. They rarely ever fail.

It was still pretty funny, though. GS got no braggin rights that night! Lol

Nobody tells that story like Cody can, either.
