Before I owned an XS11, I tried rebuilding the vacuum actuated petcocks on my XS750s. No matter how careful I was, they could not be trusted. I read from a fellow member on the Triples forum that the diaphragm plunger in the K&L rebuild kits was shorter than the original, but I couldn't see it in my parts. Finally, I gave up and found other solutions.
When I bought the SF (my first XS11), I got rid of the Octy almost automatically after my experience the Triples. I don' regret it at all - so far.
I am going to do the same thing on the Bagger (the SG).
I kept the Octy parts for both bikes, and just put an air plug over the petcock prime holes, so I can easily change my mind anytime.
NOTE- I wouldn't worry too much plugging the prime hole with a bullet proof solution. I have had a tear in one of my air plugs once and the consequences are..... that you don't put it in the prime position - that you don't need anyway.

Hi guys,
My XS11SG's PO had removed it's octy before I got the machine so I've no first-hand knowledge of them.
What I will say is that any fuel system that needs two spigots in each gas tap and nine lengths of hose in order to work has to be a disaster waiting to happen.
What I did with my Special tank was to plug the PRIME tap spigots and run a gas line from the leftside tap to the leftside carb tee and a second gas line from the rightside tap to the rightside carb tee.
Of course you gotta remember to turn them both to run, reserve and off as appropriate.
Think of it as a check-test for Alzheimer's.
