Hi, New to this forum and didn't see an "introduction" area...so quickly here's me, Just picked up a "79SF" with 13500 mi sat for 5 years at a buddies under a tarp ran before that. As to be expected it needs all the rubber replaced. I found a vender on ebay that has new manifolds (carb holders) for $69.95 IMO a bargin! I hope its okay to do this... the vender is Sincitycycleparts in New York. has anyone delt with them or bought these manifolds. Then I'm open to all other suggestions as for other parts, mods, and sources for xs parts! I really like this bike although I'd rather have a F model.but this old gal spoke to me and $200. outa my wallet and shes mine couldn't pass it up. My main ride is a '84 FJ1100 but the misses isnt comfy on it so I thought this would fit the bill nicely. Thanks! Charley.

Well, start here to figure out what you need.... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36550
There's multiple parts sources for these, depending on what you need; PartsN'More (general parts), Georgefix (on the web and eBay, fuel system/seals), HVC Cycle (brake parts) are three of the more useful ones, but a lot of parts are NLA so don't throw anything away, particularly trim and/or plastic items. Rust/corrosion will be your biggest enemy but the good news is that a major expenditure of elbow grease can bring many parts back to life. Spend some reading time is the maintenance/repair/modification forums, that will answer many of your questions. Get a factory manual if you don't already have one (member CatatonicBug has them available for free download on his website), as the aftermarket ones do have errors in them.
For two-up riding, these are comfortable bikes (my 2nd X almost fell asleep on the back of mine once!), for fast smooth cruising they can't be beat!
Welcome, by the way!Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Thanks CrazySteve and BA80 for the info. I got started on the bike yesterday taking off tank, air box and carbs I also checked compression and spark and all electricals work...even the Kraco stereo in the windjammer LOL! It looks like its gonna clean up pretty good. For now I plan on new rubber goods, cables/lines, tires ect... getting her running and roadworthy and putting on lower bars, sorry I just dont care for special bars. but I do plan on keeping the windjammer, trunk and bags. I'll post pics when I figure out how. Again thanks everyone! Charley79 SF; 84 FJ11; 81 XS650; 15 KLR650
